Explorers

Preschool Program

Our preschool program offers a wide variety of kindergarten preparation; including opportunities to explore the development of pre-reading and pre-writing skills, Music, Science Experiments, and bilingual introduction through active, hands-on, play-based experience chosen through the interest of the child.

Learning opportunities happen at the individual child's chosen pace (Emergent Curriculum), in an environment that supports learning through play.

Our qualified educators record and document each child's developmental domains, and document children's learning through an online parent APP format to families, as well as display boards and project approaches within the child's learning environment to visualize and reflect on.

Offered to children 3 years - 6 years of age.

Emergent Curriculum

Hands on, play-based, child-centered curriculum that is driven by the child taking the wheel in their learning. When children pick topics of interest, the adult joins in the process of learning as a co-researcher, co-learning, and co-investigator. Adults are involved in child-led learning by asking real life questions with the help capable, inquisitive, minds.

>>> Teachers act as the researcher

>>>Teachers closely observe child's interest

>>>Teachers act as scaffolding, helping the children define their questions

>>>Children and teachers together select a direction of study

>>>Teachers provide materials, facilitate, hypothesize development, and methods to test hypothesis

>>>Active investigation begins

>>>Teachers challenge children to take an alternate approach encouraging children to reach deeper and deeper into thought

>>>Conclusions are drawn and case studies are concluded

In Louise Boyd Cadwell's (2003, 25) words, "always listen for a surprise and the birth of a new idea."
